Well, here it is almost a year later. A lot has happened in that year. My walking friend broke her foot and I developed bursitis in both hip and shoulder – then we have been told to stay home due to COVID. But we did not stop walking! We just had to really take it easy and do some specific exercises to heal and keep to level surfaces and lower our speed a bit. WE DID IT! We are ready to resume our more challenging walks.
We Discover A New Trail
Last weekend, we did a test of our healed bodies and endurance. We visited a local Farmers Market to pick up the week’s veggie supply and looked around the area for someplace new to walk as was our habit last year. And we found a treasure of a trail around Matheson Lake. This is a very popular trail for Metchosin locals who want to walk, swim, fish or do some kayaking.
After that experience, I am ready to dig out the walking sticks. Time to ramp it up. This morning I tried the poles on our regular Beacon Hill Park early am walk and have confirmed that it is time.
But now I’m looking at my poles and remember that I wanted to order some new pole tips for downtown walking. So I return to the Cascade Mountain website to place an order.
I noticed that the company provides all sorts of replacement parts. This is really reassuring since I want the poles to last me another year at least. Here is a sample of parts that can be ordered. It will be interesting to see how long it takes for the order to arrive. I will keep you posted.
Onward and Upward! If you have experienced a setback similar to ours, please know that getting appropriate professional help (GP, Physiotherapist, exercise routine) is the way to go. Share your own experiences below. I would love to hear them.
